Team Business Burbank
By: Scott R. McGookin

Whether companies have been conducting business for a few days or for many years, Burbank truly appreciates the benefits provided by business including jobs, and the contributions to the marketplace.

The City of Burbank is especially pleased with a partnership developed between the City of Burbank Community Development Department, the Burbank Campus of the University of Redlands; Woodbury University (headquartered in Burbank); the Burbank Chamber of Commerce; and the regional Small Business Development Center (SBDC), CHARO Community Development Corporation. Together, these partners of the Team Business Burbank program work to maximize resources for Burbank residents and businesses by providing both training and consultancy services for business start-ups and existing small businesses that are interested in growing.

Burbank Team Business is a vehicle that Burbank offers small businesses that specifically want to link to the best resources for training, consulting and access to capital.  Together, Burbank Team Business helps participants start, grow and develop businesses to reach their full potential. To date, over 823 persons have been served directly by the Team Business Program.

The level of instruction and business acumen offered by the Burbank Team Business program is unique to other public business training within the region. Each Burbank Team Business workshop is instructed by university professors from either the University of Redlands or Woodbury University. Training by university professors and counseling by experienced business coaches makes Team Business Burbank a valuable resource that established businesses and start up enterprises alike can rely. Team Business Burbank participants comment on the practical value of the information they learn in each workshop session.  Business participants gain information and insights that can be immediately put to work. That’s the big difference.

Workshops include from Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations; E-Commerce; Customer Service; Business Management; Business Planning, and more.  Other technical courses include Quick Books (beginning and advanced); Business Accounting and Finance Basics, and “All About Business Loans.”

An important component of Burbank’s community economic development program is a focus on the needs of business owners and prospective business owners.  To learn more about starting or expanding your business call (818) 238-5180 or visit our website at www.teambusinessburbank.com or www.burbankca.org/redevelopment/econdev
