Tony Tartaglia has been named regional public affairs manager for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), Northern Region. With more than 24 years of SoCalGas experience, he spent 20 years as a public affairs manager, responsible for 11 cities and communities in SoCalGas’ Northern Region from Santa Clarita to the San Gabriel Valley. In addition to his public affairs experience, he worked in SoCalGas’ marketing and customer services areas where he was an account executive responsible for sales and contract negotiations for large plastic, rubber and chemical industry customers in the territory. He was also instrumental in SoCalGas’ roll out of its advanced meter technologies in Burbank and Glendale. “Tony is a strong leader and has been an effective liaison to our government and community contacts in the Northern Los Angeles County area,” said Denita Willoughby, SoCalGas, regional vice president of external affairs and employee communications.

The Valley Economic Alliance and Los Angeles Valley College will team up to present the 2nd Annual Career Fair & Health Expo on Thursday, April 17. This free Career Fair and Health Expo will take place at Los Angeles Valley College’s Monarch Square from 9a.m. to 1pm and is open to the public. Students and members of the community will build relationships with local health agencies promoting awareness about the latest health-related trends and offering the knowledge and resources necessary to pursue healthy lifestyles.  Jobseekers will have the opportunity to interact with bigger employers to small companies from across the region including Van Nuys Airport, Providence Health and Services and Valley Presbyterian Hospital. Burbank Water and Power (BWP) announced the expansion of it’s newest water conservation program, “Go Native!,” which provides Burbank residents and businesses with cash rebates for replacing live turf with a California Friendly landscape. The Go Native! Program was launched in November 2012. To date, more than thirty projects have been completed, contributing to an estimated 1.2 million gallons of water saved. Burbank residents can now receive $2 per square foot of turf replaced with native plants, with no limits. Projects in any part of the yard are allowed, including front, back and side yards, and parkways. Burbank businesses are also now eligible for rebates of $1 per square foot, with no limits. To assist residents and businesses with their projects, BWP offers free landscaping workshops open to all Burbank customers to learn efficient landscaping and turf replacement techniques, as well as specifics about the Go Native! The Armenian International Medical Fund (AIM) is hosting their annual Gala and Silent Auction at the Brandview Ballroom in Glendale on March 30, 2014. Proceeds from the Gala will support their 13th medical mission to Armenia in July to operate on four-to-six hearing-impaired children with cochlear implants.  Today, over 70 children and young adults have received implants, and lead normal lives. AIM Fund operates as a 100% volunteer run and staffed 501(c)(3) charity.  Every dollar contributed to AIM Fund directly goes to meeting the needs of the hearing-impaired. Dr. Akira Ishiyama, Dr. Vicken Sepilian, Maeve Browne, and Don Kawachi will be honored during the gala for their service and commitment to AIM Fund.
