Jack O’Neill is the recipient of the 2008 Woodbury University Movers and Shapers Award that recognizes those who have demonstrated leadership and have made significant contributions to the Burbank community. During his more than 30 years of involvement in Burbank civic and business life, O’Neill has been instrumental in bettering the city.

Scarlett Powers Osterling has been named president of SCPH Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Southern California Presbyterian Homes. Osterling joined SCPH in 2007 as executive vice president and chief development officer of the foundation. “In a relatively short amount of time, Scarlett has been phenomenally successful in building a development program that will serve us well in the years to come,” said Gerald W. The Valley Industry and Commerce Association (VICA) has named Stuart Waldman as its new president. He begins his tenure at VICA, Sept. 8, 2008. “We are pleased that Stuart has accepted our offer to join VICA and look forward to working with him to build a stronger Valley economy,” said VICA Chairman Greg Lippe. “His experience and first-hand knowledge of the political arena will be an asset toVICA.” Waldman brings 11 years of legislative experience to the position, representing the San Fernando Valley as a staff member for the California State Assembly. The bulk of that time was spent serving as chief of staff to two Assemblymembers, including Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg.
 
The Walnut Valley Water District and East West Bank recently announced a new banking partnership.  A signing ceremony was held  at which Dr. Allen Wu, Ph.D., P.E., President of the Walnut Valley Water District’s (District) Board of Directors, and Dominic Ng, Chairman/President and CEO of East West Bank, signed the banking services agreement to officially launch this business partnership. Beginning this December, District customers will have the option of paying their water bills at five local East West Bank branches, including those in Walnut and Diamond Bar as well as East West branches located in the 99 Ranch Markets in Chino Hills and the City of Industry.  Once this goes into effect, the District will be among the first water agencies in Southern California to accept payments at a local bank branch. . Kirk Cartozian, Chair, Orangeline Development Authority (seated at right) and Richard Ornitz, Chairman of the US Infrastructure Practice at DLA Piper confirm agreement to raise $20 billion in private financing to implement the Orangeline High Speed Maglev Corridor Development Project.  Joining them standing (L to R) are J. Wesley Skow and Erich Eisenegger of DLA Piper, Bruce Barrows, Cerritos Mayor Pro Tem and Vice Chair, Orangeline Development Authority, Albert Perdon, Executive Director, Orangeline Development Authority, and Kyle Leingang, Legal Advisor to the Executive Director. The Board of Directors of the Orangeline Development Authority on September 10, voted unanimously to enter into a legal services agreement with DLA Piper, one of the world’s largest law firms, which will set the stage for raising private investment for the most innovative transportation and development project in Southern California.

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority recently announced the appointment of Dan Feger to the position of Executive Director of Bob Hope Airport, effective immediately.  Authority President Bill Wiggins also announced the appointment of John Hatanaka to the post of Senior Deputy Executive Director, also effective immediately. Feger, served as Deputy Executive Director from 2001 until this year and originally joined the Airport staff as Director of Planning and Engineering in 1988.  Hatanaka, has been with the Airport for five years, first as Director of Contracts and Properties, and he was promoted to Deputy Executive Director in 2007.
