Available to utility customers in California, the California Energy Commission is now offering solar power rebates in the amount of $2.80 per watt. In addition to this, you are entitled to a 7.5% tax credit on the cost of your system after rebates. Together, these incentives can pay for nearly half of the cost of a system. As a commercial customer, in addition to the state rebate and tax credit, you are entitled to an additional 10% federal tax credit, and can depreciate the net cost of your system on an accelerated 5 year schedule. For both residential and commercial customers, California Solar Electric Company will assume the CEC rebate so that your upfront cost is reduced to only the net cost of the system after rebate.
